The 2016 Advancing Justice Conference (AJC) is the first and only national conference in the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community focusing on civil rights and social justice. Over 700 AAPIs from across the U.S. will come together to address issues facing our fastest growing populations. The theme will focus on civic engagement and building our electoral and social power in support of economic and racial justice. Conference attendees will participate in two days of panel discussions, caucus sessions, skills and capacity building, trainings, and networking receptions.

We work with many individuals whose lives have crossed national borders. They come to us with issues and problems whose origins and consequences extend far beyond the United States. Indeed, even issues that are purely "domestic" are shaped by -- and in turn shape -- communities around the world. With this in mind, this workshop will discuss how we can more intentionally incorporate and draw upon transnational advocacy to strengthen our work. Substantively, the workshop will discuss human trafficking, immigration, development, and other issues. We will discuss myriad forms of transnational advocacy, including organizing, policy work, and litigation.

** Advancing Justice - LA is a State Bar of California approved Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) provider. Pre-determined MCLE credits are being provided for this activity. Please note that 1.5 hours of MCLE credits are approved for California State Bar members only.
